Go Tutor with Melissa is committed to the highest standards of professional practice and strives to offer you first-class services that meet your particular needs. I respect the privacy of every student, family and school board accessing my support and recognize the importance of confidentiality in all my dealings with you.
In my service, I abide by the ethical frameworks for good practice in accordance with the requirements of the Ontario Association for Child and Youth Care (OACYC), Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP), and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). As a mental health advisor, I also adhere to professional bodies for maintaining professional and ethical mental health practice.

Your confidence and trust in my work is crucial to me. I offer a confidential service and will protect any information about any individual circumstances that you choose to share with me.
Go Tutor with Melissa does, however, work closely with families, schools and psychologists, as a part of a team. In line with the requirements of PHIPA, your personal information will be treated respectfully and sensitively and only shared with team members listed on a “need to know” basis to help me deliver a better service to the student, family and schools, by improving our awareness of common issues.
Personal information conveyed to me will not be disclosed to other school staff or external organizations without your explicit and informed consent other than in exceptional circumstances as outlined below.
Limitations/Exceptions to confidentiality
- Go Tutor with Melissa has good reason to believe that the student or others may be at risk of serious harm.
- Go Tutor with Melissa may believe that the student is not in a position to take responsibility for their actions.
- Under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA);
- If I am subpoenaed or summoned as a witness in a Court of Law.
In such circumstances the information shared is kept to a minimum and only disclosed to relevant others on a “need to know” basis.
